What is the difference of direct link vs 3 way link exchanges?

    If you have a link request, what is the best way to link?

    a. direct links to each other
    b. 3 way links

    Also, how does PR with the links help or hurt? Ranking on home page is 3 and my directory is 2.

    I read that Google has updated their bots to find 3 way linking and reduce it's effectiveness. When doing SEO, it's always best to do it right from the ground up. That way, it will work for the long term.

    It was explained to me that a 3 way link is instead of direct links back and forth.

    Link to one site, that links to another site that links back to you.

    anyone know the advanages/drawbacks?
