Hi, For a while, I was confused as to what the difference between RSS and Atom were when I would sign up for a web feed. Some websites offer users a choice in formatting. A web feed, which is sometimes mistakenly referred to as simply “RSSâ€, is a standardized method used to syndicate web content. Different services can aggregate many of these feeds. A desktop app like NetNewsWire and web-based services like iGoogle, Bloglines, Google Reader, and Netvibes are common feed aggregators. Essentially, RSS is the “original†family of web feeds developed throughout the early 00s with the Atom specification being the “fresh faceâ€, offering even more clarity around things like content types and date formatting. So really, there’s no difference that you should be concerned about. Many big sites will only offer their content through RSS 2.0 but Atom is technically the “better†solution going forward. Regards.
You can try check this article with sitemaps and feeds described. It has explanations and examples of all kinds
Nobody explains correctly what is RSS and what is Atom First of all you explain clearly what is RSS and where it should be used and what is Atom ,where it should be used
What information do you need in particular? The article I linked has explanations and code examples of all RSS formats. But okay, I see it does not list Atom. But anyways, Atom and RSS formats are closely related and serve the same purposes.
Well, basically the purpose of both RSS XML and ATOM XML is same i.e. to increase the crawling of your website, both belongs to the family of web feed formats used to express ideas, news and updates on your blog, site etc...
As noone here was able to state what ATOM is I did a bit of research and found this site with good information Hope this helps
