the term Index it self means as database. The indexing is a process of search engine for collecting, and storing the newly published web pages or a website to its database for later search and use purpose.

    but

cache is a process of web proxy servers for collecting, and storing the updates and previous responses from the web servers. for ex : the changes implemented on the website or on a webpage.

To answer your question there is no difference they refer to the same thing. If a page is indexed its in the google cache.

Indexing is a process to make a webpage searchable on search engine whereas the process of caching refers to providing a reprinting content snapshot.

    wow, great info!

i want to ask also, if i want to make some online draft website for my client, should i make it to be non indexable (by robot.txt)? because if i delete it, it will create lot of 404 error, and its not good for SERP right?

    tq

Index makes a webpage searchable on search engine and caching refers to providing a reprinting content snapshot.

Do you know? Google started using the webcache.googleusercontent.com for caching instead of using ip address of the web page or website.
you can analyse better with this about indexing and caching. and get a better idea.

The process of Cache is to re-index the new updates and changes implemented on the Website or a webpage.
while caching the website with ip address it can reprint the new updates available on the webpage.
but when caching the webpage with webcache.googleusercontent.com it caches the cached page of a website or webpage.
    Is it clear.:)
