    Google and yahoo have different ranking systems and different search algorithms. It is also because Google gives more importance to the quality and quantity of backlinks, while Yahoo relies more on a well done on-page optimization. Keyword density for Yahoo is critical than Google. I suggest, you should work on the on-page optimization (design, keywords etc.) to improve your yahoo ranking as well.
