s there any specific difference between paid and free wordpress themes?

We can download free themes so whats the catch in paying money on premium themes?

whats the extra thing we get by paying money for themes, any idea?

Is it the only reason why people pay money?

I don't think so, there are a lot of beautiful themes available free.

There must be some other things too involved in there.

No, paid (premium, custom) themes are much better than the free themes. You can order a theme just the way you want it. These themes are for those (like me) who know more about writting posts than they know about php and css. You can order a theme with more advertising spots, beter seo, or just better look.
As an examle, John Chow was using a Misty look theme which was very good, but there was just not enough advertising spots. John was earning 12.000 dollars with Misty, and with the new theme he is earning 30.000.

If you pay for a custom one, there should be no "Sponsors" and it can be to your specs and hopefully 100% original.

If you go free. You have sponsors you have to keep and others will have the same base theme as you.

I would say unique and customized blog design.

In case of free you would share the design with 1000s of people...

No, I think it's not like that. The designers have at least a page on their websites called "Our recent custom themes" where they keep the screenshots and links of the blog that ordered theme. In return blogger who ordered the theme always has to mention the designers... either in posts or by placing a link... It's a two-way link love...

I made very very beautiful and custom looking FREE wordpress themes so the diffrence is not quality- The diffrence is if it is free- You will have sponsors links on the bottom SIMPLE.

    http://realestate.bloggingzone.info

Quality is still quality even if its free- Not everyone who makes free templates make crap- Plus sponsors know that people will most likely download nice free ones than crappy free ones.

regular updates - free ones tend to be "forgotten" through the years by their creators.

I think it separates you from the rest of the blogging world. Having a custom theme makes you stand out because no one would have that same one you have. Plus, if thousands of other people have the same template, I'm sure your blog will get lost in the mix with the rest of the people with the same theme...

By right if your paying then the designer shouldn't insist on a link in the footer or anything for their own promotion, i imagine that a payed for theme will either be exclusive or sold in limited quantities, like no more than 5 or 10.

I do see some excellent free ones though.

    Some great designers out there.

I have seen no real difference in either - I would disagree with markl26 as popular free templates always tend to be updated or re-themed in some way. unique templates that have been designed for a one off are usually forgotten once its been sold.

there are some great site out there at the moment, offering free templates

Many paid themes come with more options, extras and pre installed customizations that you don't get with free themes.
Free themes are basically the same, except for the header.
1 side bar, 2 side bars, left, right....yawn.
    All the same.

If you want rotating featured articles, pre installed gravitar support, home page options, different layout options, ad placement designed into the theme, (instead of forced in) as well as sooo many other options that either are not available on free themes, or would require 30 plug ins....a paid theme, by a designer that knows his stuff is the only way to go.

Most paid themes are under $100, and I usually still "hack" them to my liking any way.
I spent months changing themes, hacking free ones and I still never got what I wanted.

Paying for a theme that I like, that is set up the way I want is the best money I ever spent on blogs. And it is totally original from the "same old, same old".

Unique to get paid theme? Apparently, one premium theme can be sold to as many users just with some adjusting only. Will the theme creator survive to only sell it, let's say $75, just to you?

    You be the judge.

I paid for this theme. Solostream, and made it into this theme. 124 Beats Per Minute.
And I haven't even explored the other options.
The support is great and I have something I like.

    Thanks.
Since I am not a designer , or coder, letting someone else do the work, and making the adjustments to my liking, is worth the money to me.

No theme is original, unless you make it yourself.
It has nothing to do with sponsorship, I just wanted something that I liked.

That's the difference for me, and I gladly give the designer a link for his hard work.

    1. Better Quality.
    2. Free update (depends on the designer).
    3. You dont have to keep the designer & sponsored links at the footer.

Yes, pretty damn!!! btw, have a quick glance, the main different is the page header and nothing more not to mention even color of your choice - it is not so vivid and welcome there. Why not try another color theme. Just my 2 cents.
