I'm not exactly a newbie, I have a 3 years experience with PPC, it's just the first time I try to build a Facebook campaign and see what happen: Since I do not find any FB email support, I have found in the 'help center" section the question that comes closest to what I am looking for: What is the Difference Between CPC and CPM and Which Should I choose? a - Cost Per Click (CPC) advertising allows you to specify a certain amount you are willing to pay each time a user clicks on your ad. b - Cost Per Thousand Impressions (CPM) advertising allows you to specify how much you are willing to pay for 1000 impressions (views) of your ad. I chose the option "a " and here are the items listed in my campaign: - Avg CPC (ok, that's what I chose to pay) - Avg CPM ($0.19 that's the CPM amount I will pay ... ???!!! Why?) I do not understand why this item appears as it is excluded from the previous choice (choice "a"). Why am I still paying for impressions? Thanks
CPM is impressions per 1000 impressions, that means you will be charged if your ads have been running to 1000 times or have been running to 1000 users on facebook. CPC it means you will be charged after a user clicks your ad, and facebook will make every effort to display your ad for the click by users.
Of course, the difference between CPC and CPM is clear, the question is why you pay them back together, I thought that one excludes the other.
When creating an ad on Facebook you choose if you want to promote it via cpc or cpm if you are doing cpc then it should only charge you per click and not charge you for your impressions
I would normally go for CPC as CPM, sometimes u get non quality traffic such as Bounces rates. CPM is charge by per impression, which is appearing for 1000 times
I also go for CPC when doing facebook ads.. you get much higher quality traffic to whatever product or service you are promoting.
If you have low CTR and you are paying CPC, it'll be a good thing as your ads appear even more and create some sort of an awareness or branding effect. However, if you're doing CPM, you will start whining when the bill comes.
CPC is good if you are new to FB PPC because it requires less monitering, CPM is good because you can get more clicks for a cheaper price. For example, I have been able to get free clicks AND impressions on FB by using CPM like the screenshot on this website. http://www.facebookppcdomination.com However, CPM DOES require more maintenance if you want to try this
