I thought about this question a lot. Initially they seem like one and the same, but I think there is a slight difference between the two. In my opinion, internet marketing is selling your own digital product or service online, and you actively market it to customers. Affiliate marketing is having others market your product for you, provided you pay them commission. What do you think?
I think that if any part of the marketing equation involves the use of on-line methods then it's internet marketing. If you use an offline ad and direct customers to your website then that would still be considered IM, IMO
Yeah, I think there is a distinct difference in both terms. Internet marketing is more of a blanket term that describes any type of marketing effort online. For instance, I work for a software company as their "internet marketing specialist", which means I control all aspects of online marketing activities and initiatives. It covers quite a bit. Affiliate marketing is...well, just that, affiliate marketing. Selling products for someone else using a means of promotion that you control. Anyway, hope that helps!
Affiliate marketing is an Internet-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts. Internet marketing, also referred to as web marketing, online marketing, or eMarketing, is the marketing of products or services over the Internet. source taken from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affiliate_marketing en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Online_marketing
