What is the difference b/w paid search and paid placement?

    Could you please tell the difference between paid search and paid placement?
    When Joining Ebay Partner Network(EPN),they ask for the primary business model.In which group Adwords belongs to?

    It can be defined like this:

    Paid search: Google chooses where your ads will apprear.

    Paid placement: You choose where your ads will apprear.

    But.... EPN doesn't really permit direct linking via AdWords. If you have your own website with EPN listings on it, I would suggest to use paid search (at the end you will pay less but get more exposure.).

    In paid search, you pay the search engine like google to do the promotion. In paid placement you put the ads yourself.
