Build backlinks buy writing relative unique content. submit that content to article sites. Social bookmark your blog and content. Here is a site with tips on SEO techniques. Submit posts to related forums and putting your link in your sig.

Many methods can help you to promote your site, for example, exchange the link with other sites, comment in some social forums and promote your site in the signature. You could try them and I think you'll find the method which is more suitable for you.
Quality and lots of content. Another thing that you should consider is doing your SEO on a daily basis as much as possible.
The content should also be kept fresh and updated. An updated content always attracts more visitors than a static content.
Search in Google about how to get traffic to your blog. You will get websites stating guidelines about it.

If you are looking for a flip answer: links... If you are looking for an honest answer: tons of links LOL Honestly, put links in as many channels as you can do, through guest blogging, article marketing, forum marketing, and advertising your RSS feeds... Mix some paid traffic with that to keep your traffic flow up, while you are building those all-important links... Paid traffic is not always, nor should it need to be, expensive... There are many sources of cheap traffic, but regardless of cost, your main concern should be targeted traffic.
Write articles and create backlinks from other sites to yours. Comment on other blogs, maybe use PPC advertising if your budget allows. Forum posting is also a great way to get traffic, and probably my favorite.
