What exactly is covered by this copyright?

Is it illegal to clone a site? I see it done all the time. How is this not a copyright violoation?

Ok let me rephrase, what is copyrightable and what is not. For instance, my cousin and I opened a pizzaria once. Little did we know that the curvature of the sign was trademarked by another restaurant and we had to take it down even though the other restaurant was fast food nothing to do with pizza and copletely different text and font.

So what on the page is copyrightable?

Anything I make is protected as my intellectual property. The sign you copied was probably registered as a trademark.

In summary you can't copy another site. You can copy bits of text but only if you acknowledge the source.
