I would be interested to hear all of your tales of woe and failure as a blogger, and how you've learned from them I remember when I first started my blogs, I never gave them enough time. If I had worked harder on my blogs to bring in new content and traffic I'm sure I could have earned a lot more money, but I've learned to never give up and keep working on my projects no matter what!
Opening too many blogs at once. When you get a feel for how easy and quick it is to register a domain, throw WP on it and plop down a premium template, you can become addicted to building sites..next thing you know you have a bunch of unfinished projects , or blogs that you have updated in months. I learned that you don't need 50 blogs to make a living, just 1 or 2 good ones that are serious about making the best. A bunch of crappy blogs, will take time away from your good blog(s) that have a chance of actually making money.
This I have to agree with, I've learned this lesson the hard way as well. You definitely make a lot more money focusing on a few blogs heavily instead of trying to open tons and tons of blogs, even autoblogs.
Haha I have to agree here too! I've spend hours in Photoshop thinking I was onto something really amazing, just to throw away the template and never even look at it again. It's really sad, but live and learn I suppose.
When I first started out with my first internet marketing blog, I tried to do it and write like how the "Big Guns" in this niche did and I got little traffic and even less repeat traffic. How I learned from it: I added value and gave different view points that others may have not covered. I changed to more my style, added pillar articles and started spending more time on brainstorming and research before I write my Big Posts. Yes, it's definitely paying off. I get more traffic and a ton more repeat traffic. Especially with word of mouth, I get a lot more traffic from social media.
The worst thing that I might have done with my blog, copying and pasting from my other blogs since I was too lazy. That was definitely a HUGE mistake. Yugo,
I never learn about seo in the first few months of blogging, and never learn about off page seo until 8 months later.
Wow, that can't be a serious question. If it was you need to do some research on the number of reasons why that is a huge mistake.
not paying attention too much on my blog, I heard that in order for your blog to get indexed in google in 2 months, you must post at least 150 targeting specific keyword, so blogs really need so much attention.
Not starting one sooner! The first time I heard of blogging was back in 2003. Had I really started it back then, I feel like it would have been quite a journey. I thought of starting one since then, but only opened one up in 2007 for a product site, and then a personal one back in 2008. Soooooo should have started earlier!
