Ok. Guys, I'm a newbie. So, please don't laugh. I was wondering what is the deal with the company You are registering with? In terms of quality(not price) they are all the same, right? Hosting is the thing where you should be picky. Please tell me.

Well while you did not want price to be a focus point, price has after all quite a big part to play, as it can vary quite a lot between one registrar and another. However other factors also play a part, such as the interface and features the registrar offer. If you often sell some domain then it can simplify things if you use a registrar where the other person can easily sign up for their own account and then push the domain to theirs without any hassle.

Of course support is likely to vary from one company to another, the nature and price of extra features such as private whois, domain forwarding DNS setup etc.

If you only have a couple of domains it might not matter that much. But as some people have hundreds of domains, the price and nature of the registrar can be quite relevant.

Thanks mate. I need to register 2 or 3 domains, which I will actively use. Which register do you suggest?(Price is off course an issue now) :)

Personally I like www.moniker.com, they are professional, good prices, many features etc. The www.internetbs.net company is cheaper and might be a choice if you are only looking for price. However moniker is more reputable and more well known company. If you need URL forwarding and whois privacy they charge extra though for those, even if whois privacy is quite cheap.

GoDaddy of course is often the most known company and the largest (at least I think they are the largest...). However their prices are not particulary impressive.

No, not all domain registration companies are the same. You have to look carefully at the full range of features offered. Some offer very cheap domain registrations but extras are very expensive, relatively speaking. For me, namecheap.com has got the best combination of features and price.

    Hope that is useful.

If you thinking of just domain name then all are the same only . All of them definitely will do same process of registration but what make them different is the feature they are providing with the domain registration. like for private domain some charge extra money some not. So it's better to look for add on feature they providing with registration.
