Let's give the holy wars a break. I am curious about what is the prevalent image people have about the Bible. You are welcome to mark your choice and explain if you wish. My view is number 3.
Even the mass-produced ones? Just kidding, I understand what you mean. I believe a combination of Written by men under Divine inspiration - Includes facts and metaphors to be interpreted Code (markup): and A collection of stories with myths, tales and history - Interesting, but only human stuff Code (markup): I think there are parts divinely inspired. But I also think a lot of it is just tales, myths, history, etc. You have to realize that today's "Bible" is a very small percentage of the original stories circulated prior to the Council of Nicea. No one really knows though... there is a lot of controversy. But that's not to say that you can't find inspiration and meaning from the Bible, even if you don't believe it to be wholly the Word Of God.
Stuck between 3 and 4, here. From what I've heard, several Bibles were running around, until Constantine called a conference. There, they agreed on the trinity concept and consolidated most of the Bible. Whether this was done as deception, or merely a way to reduce intra-faith arguments and violence as well as unite the faith, I'm not sure.
I have just a question, do every churches have right to modify the Bible, or it is controlling over Vatican ?
I don't thing the Vatican has authority over the protestant churches. They rule the catholics. I made elementary in a catholic school and never heard about this fellow king james.
I believe it's a mix of 2 & 4. It has it's good and it's bad. It's probably also been tampered with/manipulated by writers with less than noble intentions.
I'll take a combination of 3 of the answers: Written by men under Divine inspiration - Includes facts and metaphors to be interpreted, but at times deliberately mistransliterated/mistranslated ie: Easter (with connotations to the word Ishtar - a historical sexual fertility rite performed by "heathens") substituted for the word Pasca (Passover) to deceive those not versed with the general storyline.
There is so much contradictory statements in bible...but i guess, as a holy book it has it's own place and respect.
The Bible is about one Man-Jesus. You must have a link to Him before you will ever understand anything in this Holy book at all. I vote for 1
