Can anyone tell me the best WordPress theme for my blog. I read many forums, some say it is Genesis and others say it is Thesis. Which one is the best for my blog(www.techquester.com)?
Go check themeforest. Both of your suggestions are more of a framework than a theme really. They require a good bit of work. Genesis I don't even quite get. Thesis is fairly cool for layout out areas but has its issues as well. Nigel
A child theme is a theme which uses the templates of a parent theme. have a look here http://www.thesisskin.net/ for a bunch of high quality thesis skins. Some of the skins are free and some are paid. You can go for marketers delight or aroxis theme for your website (just my suggestion)
I can't comment on Thesis, but I could say that I'm falling in Genesis so much after using for a while with several decent projects.
When you say require a bit of work I take it you mean to customize the site? If you want a fairly simple/clean layout with a custom header/navigation menu, you can get that out of the box with thesis. If you're lacking web design & programming skills it's a good option. I can't comment on genesis because I haven't used it.
Never use both of them, But I'd suggest you to go with Genesis, Genesis has a lot of advantages over Thesis (as far as I know from my own research, and experience in managing my client site) On SEO, Genesis is more flexible, Genesis allows you to handle SEO by using a plugin (such as AIO SEO Pack, Yoast SEO, etc) unlike Thesis that doesn't have this feature. So, if in the future you plan to switch to another theme, your SEO settings remain active and work for your new theme as well (because it is handled by plugin). Genesis price is cheaper than Thesis ( at the same price you can get Genesis + child theme ), check on their website. Just my 2 cents.
I understand that. however bloggers like Darren Rowse(Problogger) is highly recommending this theme. What do you say about this?
Yeah, I agree with you. I see that Thesis theme is far ahead of Themeforest themes and these themes doesn't look great when compared to Thesis and Genesis.
