I would like to find out what is the best Web hosting company to use for two things.

    1 - A website with a forum on it ?

    2 - A standalone forum ?

Also, I would like to find out some of the better/more reliable sure fire way in which to advertise.

    Thanks Craig

This is like asking what underwear is the best. With cheap hosts you get what you pay for "usually".

There is no best, if there were we wouldn't need multiple companies. Posts like this make me laugh.

    Hostgator, godaddy ....
But it would be better to go for a dedicated server (if you have the required money with you) where the server down problem is rare. Of course, there will be some problem somewhere always!

To have a Forum on shared servers, look for web-hosting's CGI limits, many web-hosting companies do not show those specifications.

Finding a hosting company is a matter of preference. If you ask me the best is bluehost.com

    Hi,

Like its mentioned by many people above there's no best. It all depend on the conditions and your requirement.

So make sure the host you select is doing good in your area, this is the basic mantra and then evaluate the factors such as pricing, features, market reviews, techology used and the most important downtime.

    Thank you.

I believe you should check on the disk space allocation, bandwidth, security features, traffic flow, e-mail storage capacity, and the kind of multiple domain accounts.

It's impossible to say which provider is the best. Perhaps you can offer some more information about what type of site you have? You have to do your homework and research the various providers. One idea is to consider what type of site you are building, think of what existing sites are similar to what you have and find out where they are hosting.
