i want to see that how many back links i hv.I want to check for my website not for a single web page.

 

You can use free tools available over the net for this purpose. One of them is http://www.checkwebsitestats.com/. It shows how many backlinks you got from five different search engines.

 

Very simple. Just type - link:your URL on Google Search bar. Google will automatically show you how many back link you have. Follow the same procedure i Yahoo and Bing. Barring this there are lots of tools available online. Download them. SEOpen is this kind of tool. I have been using them. You can use it.

I only use Yahoo explorer, Backlinkwatch and Google webmaster tools, In my opinion these are the best sources for finding backlinks of websites.

 

link: also work but shows links to the index page only. The best tool to check your actual backlink count is Google wbemaster tools. Login to your webmaster tools account and see how many links pointing to your website from other sites.

Instead of using link:url in the Google we can use the Google webmaster tools ( we want to submit our site in webmaster ) which will provide you the accurate backlinks. And as mentioned in the above threads "backlinkwatch" is the nice tool.
