What is the best way to search Facebook conversations to give them a URL to your content?

You can't comment on their timeline unless you're their friend. So, you'd need to find these conversations on Facebook Groups or Pages.

When I try this on Google: site: http:// www. facebook.com/ groups "keyword" it does return results, but not many. I make sure its a common keyword that many people are likely to be talking about, and there's like only a few hundred results.

Maybe Google isn't very capable is searching that deeply into FB, or maybe it doesn't really want to?

You can only do it according to groups if their info isn't public. Also, if you comment on their status you are totally spamming because it's their timeline, even if it is public. Find groups that are related to whatever you are promoting, join them, and then reply to posts that are related - don't link to your site as an answer - give the answer and then say by the way, my site... that also may be considered spam so check the group rules and the way people there behave before posting.

Don't say "by the way my site."

Give them an honest, quality answer while logged in as your site's page. :)

That's the best way to promote your link.

I agree and disagree. Sometimes it is very annoying to see someone hide behind facebook page instead of the real person.

Right, but if you're "hiding" as a Facebook page in most niches, you're establishing yourself not only as an authority and an expert (because your name is a a business' name), but you've also included a link back to your content without explicitly saying "click this."

People like to explore and browse and shop. They don't like to be advertised to, so even if you're giving good content, saying "By the way, my website teaches you how to train your dog!" is never going to convert as highly as "Train Your Dog In 10 Days" leaving a helpful, worthwhile comment.

I agree with you for the most part but it always depends on context.

Search for groups and pages in FB search function itself. Then like and browse them and start interacting.
