I was doing some nice jolly old research on my website's competition and found a couple of pages using hidden text and another using link structures similar to the cloaking method. I'm pretty sure the search engines will be glad to know about this but I don't know what if any is the best way to contact them. Anyone know Matt's email at google?
Don't bother. For a while, I reported spam sites to Google and Googleguy himself. However, the sites still remain to this day.
They make you remember the search and the page where the website appears. Ahhhhhhh dudes. I might make some spam pages myself now.
thats for the short term quick bucks if you are serious about your site, ignore those sites and concentrate long term.
The same experience as the others. They don't care. I get a standard reply and nothing happens. Think they will need tons of complains before they do anything. But it would also be quite time consuming if they had to deal with all the complaints since everyone would start to complain about most of the top ranking sites.
The first thing you do, is to put a big "bulls eye" on you forehead. And become a target for those you ratted on. Second, are you sure you understand why they did something that is so easy for the SEs to see. Third, set up a Google Webmaster Tools account and use the formal process. But remember, your site will also be reviewed.
