What is the best way to protect my privacy?

What are the ways that I can protect my privacy when registering a new domain?

I'm not entirely thrilled about having my personal phone, address and name available to anyone that does a whois.

How do the people who have 100+ domains keep them private? I would assume the $9 or so for 'private registration' could prove quite costly when dealing with that many domains.

I'd like to avoid inputting false information and I don't want to form an LLC just for this.

Hi, I register all my domains at Namecheap and they give you free whois privacy subscription included in the cost of your domain name.

They have it built into the sales checkout process so you can just tick a box and the privacy subscription is applied to the domain name as you buy and register it.

I only use namecheap cause of this. So much cheaper and easier :)

Rent a PO Box, get a free inbound AIM Phone number (aimphoneline.com) & register a dba ("doing business as") business name at your local municipal office. In my town a PO Box is $40/year and business registration is $20. Works out cheap over many domains.

Yes, privacy protection is already part of the www.name.com domain name package and at $5.99, it is really affordable.

Using a PO Box is the best way to protect your address. You can apparently get free phone numbers to receive calls, but not too sure about that

Is it good enough to just use your last name with Mr. at the start, to keep it semi-anonymous?

eg. Mr. Smith if your real last name is Smith?

Speaking from my registrar experience, highly unlikely. More so if the registrar
you're using thinks that's not good enough.
