So my blog gets dugg quite often, but I am very disappointed about the adsense earnings.

What alternatives do I have ?

P.S. my blog is about ubuntu linux

If the traffic is in great amount then a small CPM banner somewhere on the site will do !

Digg users are well known to be bad converters for anything, so i wouldn`t expect much from affiliate programs with its traffic, my vote goes for adsense anyway, because it is known to provide highest earnings from all cost per click programs. You should rearrange the placement to get higher ctr and tweak the page a little bit to display higher paying ads, I am sure if you put some work you will easily be able to duplicate your adsense earnings.

Pay per impression ads will surely earn you some revenue. Ever tried www.thenewsroom.com? They're pay per impression news and video clips.

    This is almost a paradox.

Its very very hard to monetize digg traffic :(

Is it possible for you to add some sort of paid subscription? Maybe add in a forum so you can let the users generate content for you...

Your site is obviously well liked if you have been dugg a few times, nice job :)

Why you depend on digg only while there are many similar sites? Marketing is one mile depth and fifteen mile width, try to propagate using different channel.

Don't give digg too much credit. I get more traffic from reddit, and stumbleupon than I do digg.

FrontPageBids.com just launched a model to help with this issue. We are also providing free WordPress "digg optimized" hosting for participants. The details on that are on the blog (blog.frontpagebids.com). Any feedback is welcome and appreciated.
