Start working on getting as much as unique traffic you can. Unique and targetted traffic can make you earn good money. But again ... in order to get high traffic you need to have good contents, SEOing and marketing
Do you think onsite optimizations can only be called SEO? I cant agree.. Getting a link from a PR 7 site would definitely be a part of SEO. If you have many friends with high traffic sites willing to link to you, that would be fine. But for any site, a high position on search engines is highly important. No, I dont mean to say you need to write content based on SEO principles, with right keyword density and blah.. blah.. But I dont believe anyone in his right sense would not want traffic from search engines!
Good content is important but implementation of the various SEO techniques (not the bad ones) is the ultimate answer. It takes time (3 to 6 months) to get a good ranking.
You can also buy traffic for cheap from PPCs and send them to your site. If you're bidding on related keywords, you can get highly targeted traffic. SEO helps for the long run, but then again, one change in the search engine algorithm and you could be back at square #1.
Once you are getting the unique visitors to your site you have to work on adsense format, location and colors to increase ctr.
read the article link is in (signature) 'making more than pennies with adsense' I will warn you it does contain an affiliate link. cheeers
Some good comments, ssk, and nextgen66 in particular. But its obvious most of you giving advice don't make much with Adsense. 1. You need to forget about blogs altogether. 2. Click the banner at the top of this site scamwatch.only-the-truth.com. You'll know what one to click. (its not Agloco, wait 10 seconds for Agloco to rotate out then click the next banner if Agloco isn't displayed, click the banner you can see.) 3. Find the most searched for medium - high competition keyword (not the lowest comp keyword.) 4. Find a keyword which is constantly discussed, which needs to be researched allot more than what one site can offer. 5. Build a forum based on that keyword. 6. Name your domain with that keyword in it. 7. Don't give a guest all the answers, make them have to click your ads to find more about what their searching for. 8. Choose a keyword in a market where advertisers are constantly moving around. (you don't want a low comp guy showing his ads all the time, if you have members of a forum, they will not click on it anymore, those ads need to change nearly everyday, so it needs to be medium to high competition keyword. This way, you can get members and guests constantly clicking them because 9 times out of 10 they'll be different ads targeted to the same niche, and not completely different content ads altogether which might be of no value. Most of all, make sure the niche you pick is one that is constantly changing, and something people will always and forever look for daily, but make sure you get at least 0.50c per click for it. (the program I told you to get will show you this, and much much more.) Its a Master Piece. Low to medium paying constantly clicked ads far outweigh high paying keywords that get clicked every so often. Read my other posts about section targeting and other tips for blogs and forums. But I highly recommend you leave blogs altogether unless you can get 25,000 views per day. Good Luck! And may the Sense be with you .
Use the targeting methods like these. Go to google or elsewhere and look for plugins that can help you do this. It isn't 100%, but theoretically can help you generate higher paying adverts from your site's content. google_ad_section_start --> google_ad_section_end --> <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) --> text to ignore <!-- google_ad_section_end -->
