Hello guys, Please share your personal opinion, what you think if I get the top position then what is the best way to hanging on top, here is a few way but still I'm little bit confuse 1st one is stop working and just update our site regularly| 2nd is doing extra effort on our site and 3rd one is still doing our work as we were doing in past. dnt b confused. dnt overburden urslf. i hv seen ur site n had a look at ur instances. u hv already done a lot of wrk on ur site. u may jus continue doin d following thngs: 1. blog posting n submission 2. comment posting 3. social bookmarking 4. article posting 5. feeds submission i thnk dese all wll prove benefial 4 u
It all depends on the keyword and how competitive it is. There is a huge difference between a keyword with an overture of 50K vs ranking for your domain name - but you obviously it's easier to stay on top once you are there than starting from not in the top 1000. Increasing the effort could trigger a spam filter - but then again, it really depends on what you did to get the #1 ranking in the first place. I would concentrate more on ranking for the second and third keyword.
First thing for sure is Regular link building to maintain your top rankings. Second thing, check all new keywords/phrases which you can target to get more traffic and rankings. Best of Luck.
Personally, I focus on continued link building, making sure that the keyword that is ranking #1 appears in the anchor text of the backlinks. Via that method primarily, I've been able to hold some keywords consistently at #1. They are not highly competitive, but typically get 25-50 searches daily.
