If you look at the stats most people reach the websites through search engine better if I say google .So The best free way is through SEO. But the problem - "it need time and effort" .

 

Yeah I agree with that. But if you implement of all strategies, it's more better.

The issue I've found with "free" traffic is that it's rarely of any quality. While free is nice, it's difficult to get targeted traffic for little to nothing in return. The only free quality traffic comes via search engines.

 

Link exchange seems to work as well, however i don't like it.
Further you could use other strategies as well, depending on your site's subject.
For example: If you have a WoW site, you start playing WoW with your domain name as character name.
Or if you play other games, where you can host a game, you could name your games "Unrealtalk.com - 4v4 CTF".

All viable traffic sources. The most important thing to remember is not to enter and start spamming, or posting bizops over and over. Try to be helpful to other members, and actually RESPOND to people's questions or remarks. People will respect you much more...and be more prone to follow your links...if you take the time to really pay attention and be repectful. Nobody likes an abusive spammer.

Free traffic, while free, will never surmount to "large backlinks" or "large traffic" (large being over 100 hits within a day).

Except if you make a forum post regarding your website on a forum, which everyone enjoys talking about. Or if you social bookmark something using stumbleUpon, and it gets some "likes" and becomes popular.

However, I noticed that, either StumbleUpon has completely stopped bringing traffic to just any website, or that it's so congested that almost NO traffic comes from stumbleupon anymore, or that it Blacklists certain IP domains from being stumbled.

I would say those are the big 3 for free traffic and backlinks that are worth doing and offer long term results.

 

So would you all agree that article writing and submission to article directories is a good way to get a lot of traffic? I thought it was mainly just for SEO...

 

Submitting article to top article directory such as EZA is a good way to build back link for SEO purposes. You can expect lots of direct traffic as well.

 

I prefer social networking. DIGG, Stumbeupon, and also yahoo answers. I remember answering a yahoo question a month ago and today, i am on the first page on that niche.
