Is it better to use a online PR site, like PRweb.com or send the press release directly to an editor in the targeted market? I own a online clothing site

HI You can write some articles, and submit them to some free press release websites such as:
    http://www.pr-inside.com
    http://www.24-7pressrelease.com/about_us.php
When you write your article, make it informative rather than promoting your products, talk about your industry, general products and services, and leave link backs to your website.

It depends, if you have specific clothing niche, then you should focus on press release for targeted market if not, just using PRWeb.com.

articles and Press release are not 100% same Press release is like intro of your web site/service whereas articles are just articles, they can be about anything in press release you mention address no of employees you have etc

If you have the money submitting to a professional press release site like PRweb is so effective and well worth your investment. If you don't have the money right now, just submit to free press release sites.

In terms of doing press releases, here are the Key Things to Remember[/B]:
1.) Do NOT use hype-style phrases (such as “state of the art,” “breakthrough,” “miracle”) – Your
Press Release needs to sound like news, not advertisement
2.) Always write in the 3rd person – Only use “I,” “We,” or “Our” when in a quote.
3.) Keep your press release short – no longer than 1 page
4.) You must convey a story with only a brief mention of your product or service in the main body of
    the story
5.) Use short sentences and double space for easy reading

    Hope this helps. :D

Add this to the earlier, excellent advice...

If you do have some writing ability, the standard formula for a pr release is:
    Who
    What
    Where
    Why
    When
    Not necessarily in that order.
Big tip: Once you've finished putting all the info together (and made it interesting), read it out loud. If it sounds stuffy or stilted... edit it until it sounds chatty.
Big tip 2: Newspapers and mags are always looking for good photos. If it's funny or action-packed you've more chance of it being used. If it's boring, poor quality or just a portrait then it will find its' way into the wastebin, with your release!

In my opinion press release submission is very useful technique nowadays, You can provide information about your company and services and you can also share your contact information with website by press release.

Hire someone here done the job for you. There are many press release experts here and not expensive. If you are a writer you may write yourself but it may not compelling enough compared to hire an expert doing it.
