    if you want to check google backlinks, then best way to do it would be using google webmaster tool. no other tool will give you better result than the webmaster tool

    As mentioned above, Google's Webmaster tools is the best way to check the backlinks of teh sites you own. However, for third party sites you can use Yahoo's siteexplorer which is quite good too.
