web 2.0 and social networking and by joining social media sites are the best way in link building as of now.
There are several options available..... Participate in forums, and once permitted add a link in your signature. Dont just spam or add "thanks for this" type posts, they are of no value and on some forums will get you banned which is counter-productive. Be sure to add value and answer peoples questions - if the question has already been answered with a good respons e, consider opening it up for debate or else move onto the next. Add blog comments. Search for blogs in your niche that have open comments and leave something on topic - as above, dont just say "nice post" or "thanks i will definatly read your site" type comments as they tend to be spam. Leave something on topic, at least a sentence or two. Leave your website in the box provided rather than in the reply you leave. Contrarary to what some people say, even nofollow blogs can have some value, if they are popular as you can get visibility of your blog to a wide audience. Write articles - it doesnt take much to write an article - add it to one of the various article directories and include a link in your author bio. You can reuse the article and post it to others, or respin/rewrite if you wish. Theres lots of directories around, dont bother with the low quality ones. Social bookmarking. The least effective, but its so quick to do, you may as well throw some at your site. Most are free to join. Signup, bookmark your sites, pages, and articles. Look for high quality ones, Digg, delicious, stumbleupon etc. Also be sure to bookmark your articles and forum profiles. You can also use document sharing websites - heres some to get you started. http://www.im-wizard.com/12-document-sharing-sites-for-you-to-use/
