What is the best "transfer a domain" provider?

    Hello all,

I registered a domain name with Yahoo small business and it was a great mistake! Now, I would like to cancel my plan with them. Their website sucks, never works and you cannot get a hold of the people on the phone.

I would like to transfer my domain name with another provider. I also want to be able to build my own webpage through this provider. I heard that Goddady was really good, and I already checked out their website. But I am not sure what to think.

Do you have other providers to advise me of?

    Thanks a lot!

No reason to look further than GoDaddy. Get a "transfer concierge" on the phohe and they'll handle everything.

Yes, but then, they don't include a build a website option. It just is transfering. Then you have to pay extra for building your website.

GoDaddy is fine. NameCheap / Registerfly / eNom / Reseller Club reseller package are other options

Before you jump into something, domains can not be transferred until they have been registered for 60 days.

I would advise you to stay far far away from RegisterFly.

Godaddy, domainsite, enom, namecheap and quite a few more are fine to deal with.

    Thanks all for your answers!

My domain has been registered for 6 months now, so I should be fine.

I will register with Godaddy for transfering the domain. Then I'll check the other options later for the webhost.

    Thanks a lot!

Don't mix domain provider with host provider
Use name.com ($5.99) which is the cheap version of domainsite.com (both the same company) and go choose a cheap and reliable host provider

Before you transfer your domain name, make sure that you have a way to unlock the domain name at Yahoo and also to obtain the EPP code to authorize the transfer.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Actually, I have huge problems trying to transfer my domain to Go Daddy. When I received the transfer acknowledgement email, the email address they say I have is contact@myprivateregistration.com. Meanwhile, my registrar has another one, which is the regular one I use.

I called the help line twice already, and it still doesn't work. I updated the info in my registrar last night too. I tried to make my information public for a bit, thinking that it might be the problem, but nothing changed. I also unlocked the domain at yahoo, and nothing changed either. What do you suggest?

    Thanks.

Did you enable some Whois privacy plan or something ? If so, you need to remove all privacy or any add-ons to the domain name and ensure that it is unlocked.

Yes, I received the info from the support team at Godaddy. They were really quick and helpful!

Now, transfer is in progress. They say it takes about 5 to 7 days on average to be done completely.

    I'll cross my fingers. ;-)

    Thanks!
