Here are the words I am trying to rank for, I already rank high on several of these but I want to make sure that I have the title created correctly. SEO Forum Web Design Forum web support forum Computer Forum Webmaster Forum 1. Do I need to mention Forum so many times, or is once at the end of the title enough? do I need to mention web 2 times or could I just make it webmaster design forum and would it still get picked up as webmaster forum correctly and powerfully. 2. I am considering dropping Computer Forum, would this be a good move for a mainly webmaster type forum?
My advice is to try out and monitor the results. You can make changes every several weeks if they do not achieve the rankings you want..
There are millions of other websites with those keywords in the title! You're going to have a very tough job getting your website on the first or second SERP! SEO involves not only the words in the title, but also those in the meta-description, the meta-keywords and not to forget the body-text. My advice is to be specific (use niche keywords), creative and persistent (SEO involves simple trial and error too). And be patient, as KC Tan mentioned. BTW, ditch "computer forum".
Yes, monitor first your SERP for a couple of weeks. If the result is not good, try to #1 or #5 but make sure there that is no other existing title of competitors before you use ti.
Site which uses 'SEO forum, webmaster forum' will have better chances for "SEO forum" query than a site which uses "SEO, webmaster forum", since exact keyword phrases (which are separated with the comma) will be found first. But all the joy of above philosophy is broken with the fact that for the serach "SEO forum" , the digitalpoint forum is on the 4th place and it even doesn't have 'seo forum' in the title, and your site which have it, is on 23th place, if I'm seeing right.
I am not sure how you know what my forum is as I don't have a link to it in this forum nor in my sig as my sig was sold to raise money.... But I will get rid of computer forum and see what happens, I do think my description needs some work!
You have a forum in your sig which rank 1st in Google for combination of all keywords, you've listed in the first post. Now, I thought the forum was yours. If you think on 'meta description', I doubt this will help you. Digitalpoint forum is 4th for the term "SEO forum" and if you look the description in Google results, you'll see that the keyword 'SEO' comes from the description of the first DP's 1st category ( 'Google').
Oh that, no not mine I am a member there though I help admin that one I am talking about www.wbtalk.com my site.
Adding keywords in the titles of categories and forums and placeing them as high on the home page as possible may help. If you don't have a whole section for 'webdesign' you can hardly expect to rank high for the term.
You're nowhere in Google for any listed search term at the moment. You have 11 backlinks in Google. The 1st site on Google for "Wbtalk" is not yours, but the one which has the backlink to your site. This means that 'anchor text on backlinks has a lot of power. You can also put keywords in anchor text of your internal links (Menus, sections, categories...).
