I wonder if any of you happen to have some real data to share. I got to thinking that there has to be certain groups of users to are more likely to click ads than others. So it would make sense to generate your content and design your site around those users. One of my thoughts is that people are less likely to click ads the longer they use the web. Another is that older users are more likely to click ads than younger more savvy users. Perhaps two sites side by side, one about dog grooming the other about tech news. Both with adsense targeting the most relevant ads to the content of the sites. I would imagine that the site on dog grooming would have a higher CTR than the tech site because geeks at large ignore ads. Do I have something here or am I just seeing a pattern that only exists in my own mind?
I must agree with you. Savvy users are less likely to click on ads. So i guess (as you stated) that a site targeted on novice internet users must have a much higher CTR than lets say a tech related site.
yep.. old people, young kids, internet n00bs are all more likely to click ads than tech-savvy or even moderately savvy internet users..
I think best target is Youngesters who are looking for freebies, aged between 14 to 30 or 35. Mature people are very carefull where to click and where not, while young blood is not bothered
Except the problem is, usually ads which target youngsters don't pay well unless it is in a specific genre.
