There are no real tricks... on page seo, off page seo, white hat, content, research, diversified link building.. these are at the core of any good website that has decent traffic.. there are other things you can do to boost your efforts but you can't ignore the fundamentals.
Ive been using 2 simple steps call them SEO tricks if you wish but here you are.... 1. stuff your opening paragraph with keywords. a small opening paragraph is important 2. stuff your title tag with your kewords. google has to spider it so stuff it. SEO tricks... not sure but they sure do work you can see the results here. my site is called http://www.christian-internet.com here is the google listing http://www.google.com/search?source...LL_enUS345US345&q=christian+website+designers You can see we are #1 we have been here for 5 years. no worries just 2 steps
Solid Practice 1 Switch from underscores to hyphens to separate words in the URLs 2 Employ the H1 tag for page headlines 3 Use H2s and H3s for subheadlines 4 Use the keyword you're targeting on the page in bold/strong at least once 5 Change your internal links to contain the anchor text you're targeting on the page 6 Move the keywords to the front of the title tag 7 Reduce the code to content ratio 8 Apply relevant alt tags to images & photos 9 Nofollow links to pages like login, register and legal disclosures 10 - Title each page!!
The ultra secret trick (and I hope not too many people are reading), is to use a lot of H2 and H4 tags without H3 tags (due to a bug in Google that overvalue the importance of a keyword within the H4 if the H3 tag is missing, as there is a times 10 in the equation).
How do h1 h2 tags word etc comapred to using normal tags? Also does making words bold actually make a difference?
Creating backlinks from high traffic websites is a good start. Also, try optimizing on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter etc.

Here is what I do. #1 Add my site to easysubmits.com #2 Submit my site to 500+ free web directories(this will get you a lot of back links) #3 Provide good content on my website and SEO Friendly URLs. #4 Focus on a keyword that you want to be number 1 in google. Then everytime you post a link to your website, use that keyword as the link title.
@Daytona777 #12 no offense, amigo- but your SEO tricks could work only in low competition niches - the example you give is very thin - the competition for that keyword in quotes is 12600, the intitle also minimal. What you are doing (and this is not to hijack the thread, I don't advertise my "tricks" here), is rank based on the fat PR4 domain registered in 2003 and that might not last long - keyword stuffing started generating a Google penalty in 2009. Besides, the page is unreadable like the Dead Sea manuscripts and truly looks very 1996 (which the copyright notice states, in all fairness).
