Hello Friends, i need some general help with planing a SEO program for a small website.

The website is a small website that has about the 5 pages
(main page, gallery, contact, products X2 and maybe some prices page)

It's a static website, for a business - now what i need to know is what is the best i can do for the SEO after the website is finished:

the website it self is going to use all the "built-in-SEO" i can do (like Headers, tags, friendly URLs, sitemap, the use of text anywhere i can and make it relevant etc... )

Now, after the website is done, and online - i need help with planing the SEO program for this kind of website and your help will be very estimated

i want to give seo for this website once a week - every week: max of 2-3 hours of seo work, i know its not too much but this is what goes for this website.

what is the best to do in this time? work on back links? or other things?
should i build some section for updates inside the website and update some news or something? should social networks advertise (fan pages and stuff) is relevant?

basically i would to hear you about the best SEO methods for static small websites of business, and the "how impotent" is the update issue....

    Thanks for the help.

If you've got on-site SEO taken care of (it's a small part of SEO anyway), focus on content and links. First do keyword research and come up with a keyword strategy. Develop a content strategy based on that and produce the necessary content. Use the same keyword strategy to develop the right quality links. All this sounds much easier than it is. If you are a rank beginner, hiring a reliable professional, it can save you a lot of mistakes and false starts, not to mention time.

This is wrong. The only way they could have the on-site SEO "taken care of" is only AFTER the keyword research is done. Keyword research needs to be done BEFORE anything else! Only then can you optimize a site properly.

I'd say making a new page weekly with its keywords related to your main keyword, then link this page to and from you main page, then get some backlinks to this new page will help.

Excellent point Shawn. The old saying "Give them what they want" speaks loudest in terms of internet marketing. Find out what keywords people are looking for related to your products and build your website around them.

In the seo point of view, ranking doesn't achieve by small static website or big static website. Its achieve by your keyword competition. Could you tell me your keyword competition? If suppose your keyword has less competition, on page and some of off page work like directory, social bookmarking, forum posting is enough.

    Hi,

Best thing for you will be to focus on your web content quality which should be keyword rich.

    Steps for your site optimization:
    1) Research and finalize keywords based on your business
    2) write meta tags for each page. Meta tags should be written effectively focusing more on highly competitive keywords
    3) Optimize web content based on keywords
    4) Submit Google xml sitemap
    5) start writing quality articles for your site
    6) submit articles on different article submission directories
    7) do blog post
    8) use social media to promote your business
    9) participate in forums for discussions
    10) do social book marking for your pages

My advice would be to start targetting smaller niche/local terms like "keyword london" - that way you can get quicker wins in Google!
