I'm getting ready to launch an article site similar to ezinearticles.

Does anyone know of a script that is similar?

I had an article directory on wordpress and I suppose you can't get anything better than that

using certain plugins like article directory plugin, tdoforms submission plugin, role manager plugins it will make it much easier for you to manage it all and obviousely wordpress being the best cms you'll get better security and have to make less efforts for good SERP's

I'm looking for a User CP, Authors area, Site Admin area, and obviously the user front end.

Might be something I have to get custom coded.

    Hi there.

From the information you've provided, it looks like you need a solution that is multi-user, good ACL (access control), and of course a frontend (for logging in, updating profile, submissions, etc.).

To keep your costs down, you should look into an open source CMS. It'll have to be a strong one, to allow you to grow, add and control plugins, and to allow for rapid development of custom solutions (i.e., an accessible API to allow programmers to rapidly hook into your system without hacking it).

What CMS platforms have you tried, if any?

I'm still in the planning phases of the site and to be honest I am not programming savvy. I'm strong with CSS, Html and graphics but I need some opinions on complete solutions.

The domain I have lined out will do extremely well. I am very confident in that.

I'll probably go with a custom programmed solution and I am prepared to invest whatever is necessary.

What does every one think a project like that would cost? Assuming I handled the graphics and CSS.

I'll be VERY careful with this script. Ok, let me be honest. Use it if you want, it is up to you. For all the years I'm online, I used my own scripts and stuff. Recently I decided to switch over to ArticleMS to try and automate the process for me by installing their plugin. Let me tell you, the ONLY pages which got indexed by the search engines were the pdf files.

I could see on one site when I visited it there's usually like 10 - 20 visitors, but NO clicks on my ADS. Now that was a bit suspicious to me. I removed the script, uploaded my old site and almost immediately there was a CTR again.

Can't tell what is REALLY wrong with the script, but SOMETHING IS fishy.

I'm using yourarticlesdirectory , it's for 99$ now .. it has great potential but it's full of bugs .. so if you are ready to customize everything , it's your solution ..
(My article directory http://www.youtips.net , but I'm using the script only for the core (member area, submissions .. all the site is done using xHTML/CSS))

articledashboard is a great free one also, I was about to use it ..

In the end, I'm with Bratzilla, just use a powerful CMS like Drupal and you will be happy in the future ...

Anyway, I can't help you because you are ready to invest money .. and I'm just expert with free scripts :D (Even yourarticlesdirectory was for free at the beginning ^^)

If you just need a article website you might be only needing a blog software.

For that Wordpress is the best with lots of features.

But you need to make your website anything like forum, blog or portal I would suggest to go for Drupal.

Its a bit complicated to configure though.
