Read the terms and conditions it all depends on how much the renew will be, some registrars like to slap you with 1 year free with some package but like 20$ for renew the year after.
bestone would be a good bet, because domain is just 8$ something, their domains are expensive. it will give you actual discount.
Ya definitely check the terms. Yahoo used to run a promotion where you got 1 year free then it was $50 a year after that. Im sure many people had an "oh shit" moment when they realized they forgot to cancel when they saw that charge.
