Canon is a good brand. I have the Canon MP560, I love that it's wireless and it has great print quality.

Ink is usually the main issue for me with printers, so be sure to check the price of the compatible ink for whatever you choose!

Well, I recently purchased a HP LaserJet P1102w, cost me £110 but it's well worth it. Let's me do high-volume, black and white printing and wirelessly aswell which is an added bonus.

Don't worry so much about the make of printer - but more about the cost of replacement ink.
I have Epson, Brother and HP inkjets and an HP laserjet (black and white only)
The HP injet ink is the most expensive - that it hasn't been used for a long time (nor have two other given to me for free when their ink ran out)
I can get Epson ink quite cheaply, but the Brother ink is less than half the price - so cheap I don't worry about it's cost.
Surprisingly, I can buy genuine HP laserjet replacement cartridges at about 20% of their original price - from eBay, giving me prints for about 0.3p per page - even cheaper than the Brother ink.

HP would be best , HP has recently launched the low price high efficient printer cum Scanner, i could not recollect the model number but you just search for it.

Also the big issue with the printers is the cartridge refill, it costs you half the rate of the printer, but HP has given a sure better option for it. The model which i am talking about, cartridges are really affordable. I am sure you will like it. Even i have one and no issues yet.

Canon Pixma MX870 is a good choice. MX870 has versatile features, including a handy scroll wheel and an ample 2.5-inch LCD, to help you get the job done.
