Hi, I have a question... If I have multiple back links from the same site, I am wondering if Google would treat them as a single link or multiple links. For example, if I want to build 5 links, is it good practice to build them on 1-2 sites, or build them on 5 difference site? Thanks, Hon
I agree with tonicc. Building links from different sites with from different IP Addresses will have more reputation than from different domains on a shared IP Address.
No! You are talking of Backlinks here. Backlinks increase your PageRank/Popularity with the Search Engines not the ones in your blog posts. To achieve this, you may consider posting to different forums and blogs with same interest as your blog or website. Leaving back anchor texts or full URL linking back to your blog or website from those sites increase your website/blog popularity. Search Engines love that.
Different links from different pages of the same website are different backlinks. But they give you less as the links from different websites as the guys say.
They do count but only as a small portion. Overall you should get both sidewide links but also link on 1 page.
The best and optimal is to have on 1 backlink on 1 website (and on 1 IP). But there will be no problem if you would have 20 backlinks from the same site - 19 of those will pass just much lower juice value.
It won't hurt you, having more than 1 blogpost, but also won't help much more than just one. It's kind of like forum signatures... They are present in many, many pages, but, although that doesn't help more than 1 link, also doesn't hurt...
links from different sites are always better, but links from the same are still good espically if the anchor text is relevant.
