I am wondering how to put some affiliate ads (from cj) on the main page of www.qnhl.com (hockey forums) and make people interested in visiting. I have some under hockey products on the right side middle of the main page, but I guess their position is not that great, since their stats show only few clicks per month and no sale. I added some on www.qnhl.com/arcade.php to try putting them on the top of the page...I am not sure tho what is the best position of the ads that doesn't affect that the quality of the site, but gets enough attention. Thanks, GSA
You will probably have a hard time generating sales with the forum as-is. People are at your site to talk about the NHL; not buy hockey gear. While it may seem related, you'd probably have a better result with contextual advertising like Adsense or YPN. People simply aren't on your site to shop. To be a successful affiliate you must have traffic that is ready and looking to purchase.
use advertisements in above the fold.It will generate some sales.using google adsense os a good idea.
instead of putting them on the side, you might want to try putting it as your forum sponsor for example: QNHL General Discussion sponsored by whatever bla bla and have a small image to it. Or you could push when there are certain promotion from the advertisers, may be like 10% or something. hth
I had problems with adsense. I am trying to solve them. But now I am using adsense, and I am still waiting for advertizers. So if anyone is interested, here it is: http://site.www.adbrite.com/mb/commerce/purchase_form.php?opid=104252&did_splash=1 I am starting with low rates for the first few advertizers, and then I will go back to the adbrite automatic rates. Also, I will try the suggestion of saying "sponsored by..." I think this can be more more seen. I saw it on other forums too. What do you think of the ads currenlty there? Especially the ones under the first post of each thread? Thanks, qnhl_com
