Hi all....what is the best pop-under script. Preferably one that is unblockable by the majority of pop up blockers, particularly googles toolbar. I am currently using a javascript command (w=window.open) to create the pop under but i notice it is blocked often by pop up blockers and i would like to see our popunder advertiser get a little more for their money. Please help. Thanks in advance, DP rocks.

Sorry, I realise that this is not what you are asking and sorry if my post offends you (it's not intended to) but popups/unders all are easily blockable by disabling javascript in a browser's settings, or using a firefox extension suck as noscript (where javascript can be disabled by default for all sites and then selectively enabled).

From a surfer's point of view, pop-ups and pop-unders are an annoying form of advertisement. These kinds of adverts often deter users. They either ignore them (or looking for blocking software) or will leave a site immediately.

This is just my opinion, though.

Have you considered different advertising methods that are on-page? Or running a poll for your site visitors to see what kind of advertising they prefer. Like, "In general, when you visit a website do you click adverts that are:

    1. text
    2. popups/unders
    3. images
    4. java
    5. flash"

Or a poll about what will make people leave a site quickly. Or even start such a poll in DP, too, and see what other members think. Of course, this will be more a webmaster's point of view than a surfer's.

Catering to audience-taste is important for return visitors, but of course you also need to balance that with making revenue.

You probably won't like this answer either, sorry, but I think due to the way popup/under-blockers work it's very difficult (impossible?) to make popunders that won't be defeated. An alternative is a well-placed "popup" within the window, i.e. in an area where there is no content or irrelevant content. I think that, other than disabling javascript, this is difficult for popup-blockers to defeat. A simple target=_blank in a link to the advertiser's site could be used.

If window.open opens a new page to replace the current page then some popup blockers consider it ok. But if it's to create a new window popup/under blockers will usually deny it. Especially if it's "unrequested" (i.e. not created by clicking on a javscript link).

Hi, question, don't you find it easier to take pop up / pop under from ad networks like ad maven which just give you a piece of code and also bypass ad-block?
I like doing a lot of thins myself but I think it just much more comfortable.
