What is the best place to learn Joomla?

I really want to learn joomla as I've seen some fantastic sites being built with it. Till now I have mainly been using Wordpress.

Can anyone tell me:

1. Whats the best place/resource to learn Joomla?
2. How is Joomla better than wordpress?

 

Looking online for a joomla book, and Joomla is more template based then wordpress.. which is more blogger friendly.

try lynda.com i used this site to get learn wordpresss. They also have tutorials for drupal & Joomla. But you have to sign up.

I would recommend picking up a good book on Joomla if you really want to become a pro aside from the online resources. Beginning Joomla!, Second Edition by Dan Rahmel is a great book on Joomla and will teach you all the basics to get you up and running in no time.

A good online resource that I've personally used on many occasions is joomlashack.com. The tutorials there are really helpful. Of course, you can find several other joomla learning resources on google.

wordpress is a blog even though it had many features to compete with custom made website and joomla is a content management system and its more powerful than wordpress. Major difference is wordpress is a blog and with little customizations we can make it a content management system but joomla itself is a content management system and have variety of third party components and modules by using which you can make any kind of website.
