Prestashop - absolutely superb. Great modules, great support forum, slightly weird but when you get your head round it, it all makes sense.
New version to be released at the end of March

Personally find, Virtual Mart from Joomla has better interface. But, when you have plugin in your application, it affects your hosting performance. You may have to monitor your hosting performance from time to time and make sure your hosting is at the maximum performance.

    All the best!

If you are looking for some free script then Zen Cart an OS Commerce is the best for you. There are lot of good paid scripts are also available.

I agree with the others- those other carts are limited junk.
    Check out Magento!
Over the last 10 years, I've built a storefront in os commerce, zen cart, cube cart and Magento. If you want to look like you got it free, choose one of the others. If you want to look professional, choose magento. Oh, and Joomla is good, but very complex and not friendly scalable.

You can find components for joomla to create a shopping cart. If you use two system for just one site, it will be complicated for you to manage, as well for the users to understand.

zencart, oscommerce, opencart etc are better for e-commerce, you need to check which one do you find easy to use or as per your requirements. You can see their demo on the relative websites.

Magento is also good but it's difficult to customize when it comes to the coding for the developer. So it will take time + money... if it's not an issue then think about Magento too :)

The problem of prestashop is that payment methods are non free, and some modules are too much expensive, and on other CMS like magento, are free ( i know magento use much more resources, but is more powerful).

Well, for shopping templates, I would like to suggest you shopping cart such as Opencart, Magento, Shopify and so on. Because, they provide customiztion on themes and code accessing facility as well. Apart from this, if anyone thinking about to start ecommerce business, then these platform provides end to end solution to their clients.
