What is the best military tactic to defeat Israel?

The ground invasion to Gaza has commenced.........

Hamas has fewer armament and resources than Hizbullah

    so the options are fewer....

As far as I know Hamas do not have ATGM inventory, just RPG and small arms.

In my opinion Hamas can do the following

    1. Avoid fighting in the open
    2. Prepare exit routes in any engagement
    3. Fight only in urban areas, open fire when the enemy is 50 yards or nearer. The closer the better.
    4. RPG-7 can only penetrate the rear armor of Merkava, so forget it. Achzarit in other hand is a good target for RPG-7
    5. Combine IED attack with interlocking sniper fires
    6. 100 well positioned snipers can hold an infantry batallion, if they follow the basic sniping rules and change position frequently.

There is no way to defeat Israel by military means. Hamas's only chance is to cause a lot of casualties and delay the IDF progress, which will heighten the political and social cost of the conflict, which eventually make the offensive a failure like what happen in Southern Lebanon

It can not be done...the only answer is to call for a new cease-fire.

Unfortunately, neither side can afford to give in at this stage. Only leadership from outside can engineer a restoration of diplomatic channels.

We need Rabin and Arafat-too bad they are not here. Perhaps the new administration in the US will be able to build bridges.

they already fight like that, that is why Israel does not like to send in soldiers.

That is why they send in last resort.

Palestine should work on its economic, once they have a good economic they can build its military, they can get some good weapons then they can fight.

But most likely when they have good economic they won't fight anyway.

Martyrdom. (in other words... die and lose.)

Wake up, keep your lives, and find another non-violent way..... while you can.

Read up on Rahm Israel Emanuel, Obama's new Chief of Staff, before you make this comment again.

There will be no change in the US policy towards Israel. The USA supports the rights of sovereign nations to defend themselves against terrorism.

They aren't a sovereign nation. No, they haven't been under "harsh terrorism for decades."

Sorry dude, but this Pro-Palestinian rhetoric is running its' course. If Hamas has the "right" to shoot missiles into Israel, then Israel has the right to defend itself using any means necessary.

Hamas wanted war, now they have it.

we should not forget that this is not a battle between two armies, Palestinians weapons are light and medium weapons, and local manufactured rockets that are being launched each time in reply for Israeli aggressions or assassinations.

on the other hand Israel supported by US have the best weapons and equipments available.

Palestinians will defeat Israel when Israel fail to accomplish its goals for this new aggression campaign, the declared goals so far are not clear, and too general, and they have been changed since the campaign started by air-strikes, from destroying Hamas and end their democratically elected Government, to secure Southern Israel from rockets attacks.

such unclear/change in goals can be understood as either Israel is not sure about achieving a victory by accomplishing their goals, or that they have other goals behind this campaign.

on both ways I m sure Palestinians have learned enough about their enemy and will fight them in the best way they can with the available tools, snipers do not work because the Israelis do not get off their tanks till they bomb by air or tanks any area they suspect it may have fighters, they also know of course that RPG won't work against Merkava.

The war has just stared, Hamas is crashed, and we already lost? Do me a favor. In 2006 the world bought your propaganda. No this time!
    About the topic - pathetic.
"because the Israelis do not get off their tanks till they bomb by air" - 4 infantry brigades are in Gaza now. I repeat: infantry brigades.

    That is a lie.
    No tank has been destroyed.
Is that what hamas is saying ? LOL.

About 10~ soldiers have been killed in battle (4 or 3 of them killed by friendly-fire, unfortunately).

They really are hopeless, huh :D:D

Israeli spending on defence is nearly $10 billion. That's about 4x the GDP of Palestine. In short Palestine has no chance of winning a military battle against Israel any time in the near future without outside assistance.

Turkey is probably the only Islamic country anywhere near the region with the power to defeat Israel but they're a secular country who are more interested in getting into the EU than getting involved in the hornets nest that is the Middle East. Iran could probably give Israel a good battle on land but they're too far away to do so and have the Americans in Iraq between themselves and Israel (not to mention the IAF is one of the best airforces in the world). Arab countries combined would give them a tough battle, but Arab unity has always proved problematic in the past.

Russia has a military budget of x 100 GDP of Chechnya, and its still going on. Partisan war aint that easy.

The first war was a very disorganised affair from a Russia point of view, they failed to plan the campaign properly and sent in a relatively weak force. The second war was over in a matter of months, the Islamists have been reduced to hiding among the general population and popping up with the odd bombing. From a military point of view this is a complete Russian victory.

Sure partisan group can make life akward for Israeli troops, but it won't defeat them.

Thats right, what can you expect from a drunk president such as Eltsin to do, he just sent unorganised young 18 years old kids there.

But that still means no peace in the area. Do you reckon Iraq is peaceful right now, would you travel there? I think the answer is obvious, no.
