Sign up for a google webmaster tools account and use it to see "how" google sees your site. It can provide you will all kinds of good information, such as what google thinks your targeted keywords are, alt tags on inbound links,,,, all kinds of good stuff.

Get more users to post quality content. If you have good content, some flame wars and so on people will do the seo for you. For example if you have some good tutorials - people will link to you. Use linkbites. And clever trolls.

 

Add meta descriptions and and make your urls SEO friendly.

I agree with Candise. Link building is probably one of the best things you can do

 

Do create quality back links to ur site, like social book marking, article submission, comment posting and so on. Good luck.

 

To help to do meta, description, titles, tags ant on page seo things, you can use vbulleting for your forum (I think it is free if you bought vbulleting forum)
