What is the best marketing method for this type of niche.

    Hi,

    I've started my very own classified ad site and I wish to promote it the best way I can but I want to focus on the most effective method first then tag along the others.

    Which method would be the best for me?

    a.) Social bookmarking?
    - Should I start a blog and write post then bookmark them to the top 5 social sites?
    - Should I add tag each individual classified ad with a social bookmarking widget?

    b.) Social networking?
    - Build a network of people and offer free marketing tips in bullentins and add a big banner to my profile?
    - Or if any other way I have no clue how to use social networking for a free classified site?

    c.) PPC Advertising
    - So far the only ppc Im using is adCenter and I've been using it for 2 days now and can't seem to find a way to optimize it to pickup not even impressions or maybe im still in review mode or something.
    - I'm thinking about using Adwords and targeted all 50 states with a specific keyword but adwords could be too costly right now.

    d.) Non of the above
    - Maybe there's a better method. If there is what could it be? Banner advertising?, or Email Marketing targeting my articles?

    Both a and b would be a good place to start and i would also write some articles and submit them to article directories

    I agree... Do A and Be for now and start on C and D later on when you get consistant traffic.

    Your best option is to advertise it.

    All other methods will bring in very, very little traffic.

    Talk to one or more of the followng advertising networks for advice:

    TextLinkAds, TrafficSwarm, CasaleMedia, Advertising, FastClick, BurstMedia, TribalFusion, Azoogle, GlobalInteractive, AdBrite, Adengage, RealMedia, Kontera, Avnads, ValueClick, RealTechNetwork, Reduxmedia, and, Dotomi.

    Clueless noobs, kids use other methods, and they get very little traffic, along with a high bounce rate.

    Real webmasters advertise, and make money.

    I agree. Both a and b are the best methods. Please do not use PPC advertising as you would be wasting your money with little results. People love classified ad sites, so your marketing efforts won't take much. If you want to stand apart from the others, you should make your site 'dofollow'. This will entice people because they will get better results in the search engines. Yes, I think instead of starting a blog, you should try blog commenting and leave your url to your classified ad site in the anchor "name box" along with your chosen keyword. Only pick blogs with high page rank and high traffic. Also, particpate in forums like these and post about 50-100 post her day to people's threads with your url (signature) Good luck :)

    You can try to write press release and submit it to newspaper. You can also try pay-per-post review. Pay bloggers that have high traffic to write review about your site on their blogs.
