    Actually I'm running ecommerce store now, and got another blog version, but I see there are quite a lot of open source e-commerce store software in the market and i would like to know all of your opinion which is the best you've ever used or seen. Cos' I'm going to start up another ecommerce site soon. Any suggestions would be hugely apprecaited :)

    With MAGENTO, you can create a feature-rich professional storefront. The open-source platform allows merchants full control over their e-commerce business and gives them the ability to customize their database and manage their inventory, orders, and customers from a simple and easy-to-use web interface.

    Features:

    * Multiple images per product with zoom-in capability
    * Product reviews and ratings
    * Stock availability
    * Shopping carts and wish lists
    * Site management features
    * Marketing promotions and tools
    * Customer service
    * Payment (Paypal, Authorize.net, Google Checkout, etc.)
    * Shipping (integrated shipping rates: UPS, FedEx, USPS, and DHL)
    * International support tools (multilingual, multiple currencies, etc.)
    * Search Engine Optimization
    * One page checkout with SSL security support
    * Order management
    * User analytics and sales reports
    * Multiple stores tied to a singe database
    * Large, fast-growing userbase
    * Easy to upgrade
    * Mobile commerce (iPhone optimized)
    * And many more…

    Drawbacks:

    * Very little CMS (Content Management System) capability
    * Not a good fit for small stores (selling less than 10 products)
    * Hard to customize unless you are a developer or have a developer at your disposal

    Hope this help,good luck !

    You need an open source software that allows entrepreneurs to create a fully branded online store builder. Their customers can create full fledged ecommerce ready stores in minutes.

    I've always been an OS Commerce fan in all honesty, it's so easy to use, and if a feature's not there, there's usually some form of plugin readily available for it. It's powerful, yet elegant

    CubeCart is pretty nice, but it is mainly for non-informative, front page and known products.

    I'd agree with the sentiments about magento, though it's biggest downfall is a complete lack of support. You're pretty much on your own.

    I would recommend using Prestashop. They have a lot of features and very easy to learn. With a little bit knowledge in css and html, you can do a lot with it. I am using it for my site. Very happy about it.

    Linksformer, are you going to build e-commerce store from scratch or integrate shopping cart functionality into your existing website?

    Hi there,

    The only thing OSC has going for it, is that it's free. I've been paid to develop some addons/modifications in the past for some of my customers and it was pure hell. Maybe they've cleaned up their source but I can't see them correcting that much sourcecode so quickly.

    At a point we had to keep an internal version of OSC just for our own sanity. All of the frontend pages we re-wrote one way or another.

    I've played with CS-Cart abit and think it looks/feels really polished. The code is a bit messy but way better than OSC :)

    Thanks,

    Francisco
