Its not a matter of being lazy and everyone keeps saying manual is best but think about that for a min, for you to rank for highly competitive keyword in some cases you need a million plus links and if you need just one million links you build forty a day everyday it will take you 69 years to out link your competition. I'm not being lazy I'm being realistic and while you guys are building links manually your competition is kicking your @$$ making all the money. The funny part is they are probably building links with some software.

Ye, you need quality links. But PR doesn't matter. The site should be strong, and most importantly it should be relevant for yours.

    Manual backlink is better.
I used software to create backlinks, but it is not worth of doing compare to manual backlinks.

I too looked into link building software here recently but it all seems spammy and would cause negative response such as spamvertising complaints and being known as a host who spams. I guess the best way is to mingle on forums, post good content and ads when you can.

To everyone that keep telling manual is the one and only way to go, you're wrong!
There are many link building tasks that could be safely automated. It's called efficiency ;)

There are lots of link building softwares nowadays. Some of them are SENuke and XGenSEO which are mostly used by BH SEO practitioners.

In my opinion, building backlinks with article marketing is the best method.

Because the article directories will not accept your articles all in once. instead, you link will appear gradually. That looks more nature. Google will love it.

The best link building tool for me is SEnuke, Try this one and also It has been said that the new SEnuke X will be launched this mid-November and we are all still waiting for that to come out. I'm a newbie on this Forum but I can testify how great this tool is, I've been using this tool for quite a long time already and it gives me tremendous result on my SEO campaign.

    Just my two cents!

Software can help you out, but first it is best to try to get results with manual backlinking. When you rank something highly by using manual methods, then the use of software like SENuke will multiply your results.

    $0 * X = $0,
    however $5 * X = $X5 ;)

Link building software can be broken down into the type of links you wish to create. So SENuke would be a good piece of software for certain types of links, Scrapebox would be a good piece of software for analysing where to get links from etc. It really depends on what your aims are.

Manual link building works well for high quality links, but there are lots of low level links which are worth acquiring with automated tools. Time is precious and you don't want to waste it by logging into myspammyarticledirectory.com, navigating to the right page, choosing the right category and submitting your article when a piece of software could do this while you're asleep.

I've only been studying SEO and internet marketing for about a month or so, but the message I keep getting is: "do not use automated linkbuilding software"!

do you guys have that link for the site that breaks down the equivalences for backlinks? For example, it tells how how many pr1 links you need to = one pr5 or pr4. I've seen this before but haven't since.

While I respect your opinion not all software is written by some college student, sometimes it is written by someone who has been doing seo and link building manually for years and then one day said to themselves there has got to be a better way. Not to mention the fact that they plan on using it for their own sites so they spend a lot of time making sure that it won't harm their sites. I'm not saying this is the case with every software and sometimes the writer is doing it just to make some money and doesn't care if it harms sites or not.

I have used The Linkjuicer pretty effectively. It's creates 'slow links' that are natural and you can spin the content submissions. It's like $67 per month, but it's pretty good. Otherwise, I still do it manually.
