    Hello,
1st: HTML is NOT a programming language .. HTML Is a meta tag language used to display data in a specific way.
2nd: You know the usage of javascript.
3rd: make decision between PHP & ASP.
    - Mostly, when some one use ASP means that he's gonna host his website on WINDOWS Server (MOSTLY AS I SAID).
    - If you use PHP as your programming language you can use WINDOWS Server OR *nix server.

if its up to me : I would choose HTML (Display Data) + PHP (Programming Language) + JAVASCRIPT.

why PHP ? because am using php since 5+ years, flexible , easy to handle & understand , most of Free scripts releases was done using php and much more.
much more like: there exist open cms (content management systems) are available and they are written in PHP such as drupal , JOOMLA ...

you would ask your self how to store data:
I would say: simply database (mysql)

If you need help, Simply pm me :) , I will be glad to help

    Regards,
    Mohie.

You can choose either PHP or ASP.net. Both have different type of advantages. If you choose PHP your cost will we low for hosting and related ..

I will state the case for ASP. If you are deciding which to learn and are biased against Microsoft, use PHP. If you one day wish to work in a large corporation or otherwise simply like MS, learn c# and use ASP.NET.

MS invests a huge amount of money in building components for you that you only need to drag and drop onto your page to use. Then there is Silverlight. IMO it is a dream to work with. ASP.NET 4.0 is not widely deployed in the shared hosting world, but there are certainly enough host services to choose from.

I'd go for PHP and JS. If you're going for SEO, make sure all main links are written with a HTML tag, not in JS or something(Not recognized by many search engines from what I've written).

Don't forget that there are other languages out there, such as Ruby. I personally I prefer php, javascript, and html 5.

PHP/MYSQL/HTML/JAVASCRIPT like everyone else says. It's just universal. But then again, Windows has there own nice share of universal dominance, in the Home PC market

Depends what kind of website. Either way I recommend a CMS or Framework. Wordpress, Joomla, etc for a CMS. Ruby on Rails if you wanna be cutting edge. PHP with Kohana (very nice and easy to use) framework.

ASP.NET is my preference. The built-in controls (including ajax extensions and database controls), it's power and it's simplicity are it's major advantages over PHP. Also it's ability to treat the page as an application allows you to easily combine multiple functions from the one page.

anything.NET hides how the web and computers work. If you don't know anything, or don't want to know anything, and want to have Microsoft think for you, use that. If you like to think, and want to know how the web/computers really work, use anything else. It doesn't matter. PHP is used many times more than anything.NET. Python and Ruby are objected oriented languages but so is Java.

This is an amateur's question that is asked so often, some forums have a sticky for it and won't delete such questions. You are more likely to get simple answers to simple questions for PHP so use that one.
