What is the best kind of domain for results in google?

I'm thinking of starting a new site but just wondering what would be the best kind of domain...

    For example would:

    buyingcamerasonline.com

    or

    buying-cameras-online.com

(these domains are just examples I don't want these)

which would be more effective for someone typing: 'buying cameras online' into search

    Also are .nets as effective

    Thanks

I dont think the domain name has any effect anymore.

Our website is #1 on all the search engines and the domain has nothing to do with the site.

I think what is important is your seo on the site, along with a domain that is memorable to visitors

Google is pretty good in differing words in domain names without '-'s. Google for 'buying cameras online' and you'll see 'camera' highlighted in whatdigitalcamera.com etc. on Page 1. I think in majority of cases keywords in domain names are very important (even more in .coms), especially with Yahoo.

I agree with Joseph. The domain name has a minimal effect on search engine rankings. The main things you should focus on is SEO and website content.

I am not sure I would agree.

When typing the term - 'established sites' on google, we are #5 and our domain name (josephspencer.com) has nothing in it to reflect we sell websites, yet we beat over 8 million sites out there.

There are tons of sites that rank well without any keyword terms within their domain name.

Also keep in mind, that the less competition there is for a specific niche/keywords, the easier it is to rank within top 10.

It's not the domain name that makes the site, unless it's a generic .Com like cameras.com. Good Seo is King!

You don't need the hypen, Google can tell what the words are most of the time.
