    Hello
firstly if this is posted in the wrong section then my apologies.
in your opinion what is best for niche site creation.
wordpress dreamweaver or any others you can recommend.
i have been advised to stay away from dreamweaver because it formats code making it harder for the engines to read.
im thinking more of wordpress but thought this would be more for blogs not websites.
any information would be great as im a bit stuck on this one.
    thanks

Code is formatted - to the code type, regardless of whether you use Dreamweaver, Wordpress, Drupal or any other GUI, HTML is HTML. Wordpress is more for blogs, and while there are a few themes which treat Wordpress like a standard page, they often suck.

Exactly! Dreamweaver doesn't write the code itself YOU DO. Unless you're using the "Design View" in that case I would ask you to make a run for your life!

If you write clean HTML/CSS on your own then thats probably the best thing.

You've confused WP and HTML. WP is a CMS, its for BLOGS and sites which regularly need updating or posting new content regularly etc. Where as HTML can be used for STATIC websites.

Dreamweaver is good, it simplifies your work a lot, but I suggest learning to code, for knowing what to do if something goes wrong with such editors like DW.

There are a lot of other CMSs which can be used for website creation. As I understand you're not quite familiar with coding so a custom system might work for you. Most of them offer trials so you will have plenty variants to choose from

you will learn HTML quicker using something like notepad++ but to be fair HTML isn't that hard to learn and after a couple of months you want something that will speed up the process. I use dreamweaver to hand write the code and as you type is gives you options to speed things up.

    thanks for the help guys.
i have some experince in html, but can only make a standard site, very basic looking. which is great for my niche sites.
wanted to broaden out a bit and test some other ways to publish as im looking to go for a bigger site. also from an seo perspective what would be easier for the engines to crawl. wordpress have seo plugins but my thought is that if you have done everything correctly why the hell would you need a plug in for seo.

I think there is no such problem of formatting in dreamweaver , you can use it.Regarding using wordpress usage , i have seen most of the blog uses wordpress not websites.

Use Wordpress for blogs and small sites, they have some nice free themes on their official site. For large sites with lots of content, use a CMS such as Joomla or Drupal.

Yes, as others said it depends on what you need, there are lots of opensource script to make your site as you desire, Wp, Drupal for blog, oscommerce for online store.
Just look for what suits best for your site profile and for sure you'll find something nice.
