The answer to these questions are plain simple, that registrar and hosting service that matches your needs and expectations.

Someone can find terrific GoDaddy, some others horrible and many other neutral. It's your own experience what determine the answer after trying serveral.

    For webhosting,

    I am still with knownhost
the prices are not that as cheap as $1 or overselling, so VERY quality hosting provider.
They also go out their ways to satisfy and help customers

Realwebhost.com similar to knownhost but I like KH better and no longer with RWH but great experience with them as well.

I have been with godaddy and their hosting do not allow certain scripts or features that you need to run even simple scripts. Their dedicated server are ok but not recommended. (no longer with GD)

Yahoo hosting is good for very simple or less complicated scripts. Good service though but I quit them.

Hostmonster.com is also good and fast at support and as long as you are hosting legal contents, they're fine. (no longer with HM)

Hostgator goes the same as above ^ (Still with HG)

As for servers versaweb, knownhost, eliterax I am still with them and enjoying their support/services
Plus they give me members-exclusive rebates/discounts/aff fee :)

www.mydomain.com - best in my opinion next to namecheap for domains.

    For hosting try Hostrocket.

all the hosts I've mentioned except yahoo and GD support it no doubt.
BUT as you grow you will have problem with those oversellers and moving sites to new hosts will be troublesome.

So I would say go for Knownhost (#1 in my list)

Godaddy is the best in domain registration industry. Its better to spend a couple of bucks more on domain registrations/renewals with good & trustable company. We all know what happened with Registerfly.

When you register a site does that mean you own it legly speaking.
So if a company is some how no longer in control then is the domain still mine.

yes, when you register it... it means you own it for a certain period and have the right to extend that period anytime you want.
