well, I am addicted to Photoshop, but still i have used Gimp, Photo Filter, Xara, Illustrator, Coral Draw, Paint too! Loved only Photoshop!
Well, basically I use photoshop but also program called "Flame Painter". I created some very nice backrounds in it, maybe you could try it too. It has free online version here - In paid version there are even bigger possibilities - see a gallery what else could be created in this SW. Let me know how you like it guys
Well I use photoshop most of the time. Although I started to experiment with other software, to engage myself with other work flows.
Its Depend Where you are using for Web- Photoshop good For Print -Illustrator good General Print work - Coral Draw
For me each piece of software has its strengths/uses. I use Fireworks, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro and Illustrator depending on what I need to do as they each have the ability to do certain things more quickly/easily. For general web graphics I use Fireworks most and for other simple editing and batch processing I like Paint Shop Pro. Certainly Photoshop and Illustrator could do the same job but sometimes the quickest and easiest way to get the job done is what's needed.
Hi Web Masters, The best Photo editing software is Photo shop, but i am using the GIPM2.0 is meet some extent on photo shop. for simple animation gifanimator is best in my experience. Regards Webmaster.

You use a hammer to nail. Use a nail-clipper to clip your nails. Yeah you can always clip some papers with nail-clippers, but it's a waste of time. Photoshop, as the name suggest is to shop photos, images. Professionals use Photoshop to paint, create posters, montage, etc. However, it can also be used for vectors, but nail-clippers are for your nails. Illustrator, as the name suggests is to illustrate, visualize. Output is vector. Scalable. You can't paint with this software, but you can illustrate books, posters, magazine covers, etc. These softwares by Adobe are created to help us design and visualize our ideas. By using the correct tools, sky is the limit. Now for me specifically, a versatile designer, here's my tools. + Photoshop - for photo and image manipulation only, and some motion stuff. + Illustrator - Logo, banners, web layout, print materials (business cards, letterhead etc.) and motion stuff. + Sketchup - 3D modeling + Cinema 4D - 3D animation + After Effects - Motion graphics + Coda - To code the web. You can always master the tools, but its like everyone knows how to use a hammer. For hammering nails. But they just hammer it down. Never see the drawing of a bridge, and where to hammer. Now they're using more nails than they should. And the bridge is ugly. To draw a bridge plan? No. I know hammer only. It's a disease in the design industry. No matter what tool you're using, learn from the environment, the society, the world. Because the most useful tool is inside you. The ability to think and imagine. Now to materialize, that's another story. Good luck.
Photoshop! And specifically CS3. Never changed it, cause I'm so used to its interface that the newer versions somehow makes me suck at photoshopping.
Photoshop and Illustrator are just two of many tools that graphic designers use. Other design software that can be used for the purpose of developing quality graphics are InDesign, Dreamweaver, Quark, Pencil and Paper, After Effects, Letter-pressing and Silk Screen Printing. Although my personal favorite is Photoshop.
