It depends on where you are going to market your ebook. There is the traditional ebook cover that looks like a book with a shadow, etc. Or there is the Kindle ebook cover. I have read that it will hurt your marketing on Amazon if you use the older ebook cover. It is recommended that you simply use a suitable image with text added over it for more sales.

There have been all sorts of ebook cover generators available over the years. Some graphic artists specialize in doing ebook covers. There are some online and free systems.
